They are referred to as ulcers when the process of re-epithelialization (skin regeneration) has failed for one of many potential reasons. Other causes of skin ulceration are epithelial tumors, vascular diseases, and autoimmune diseases that affect the vascular system. In vascular ulcers, the slowing of blood flow in peripheral areas, usually the lower limbs, results in tissue damage.<br \/>Decubitus or pressure ulcers (pressure sores) are caused by a lack of adequate blood supply to an area and generally occur in patients who are bedridden for a long period.<br \/>Ulcers in diabetic people are neuropathic in origin. They are often located in the foot and are caused by an alteration in blood flow and tissue oxygenation.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Symptoms\"><\/span><strong>Symptoms<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The common symptom of all ulcers is pain. Following mechanical, chemical or infectious trauma, the deep layers of the epithelium are exposed to inflammatory and irritative processes causing a great deal of discomfort. <br \/>Ulcers can cause:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pain<\/li>\n<li>Swelling (edema)<\/li>\n<li>Redness<\/li>\n<li>Bleeding<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Diagnosis\"><\/span><strong>Diagnosis<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Cutaneous and vascular ulcers require the following examinations for a diagnosis to be made: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>echo color doppler (ECD), arteriography and phlebography<\/li>\n<li>blood tests to assess blood glucose and protein<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Treatment\"><\/span><b>Treatment<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The treatment of ulcers will depend on the cause that was identified during diagnosis. Skin ulcers should be treated with antiseptic solutions, compression with an elastic bandage, use of healing (<a href=\"https:\/\/mostskincare.com\/negozio\/linea-prodotti-dermatologica\/peg-unguento-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>PEG Ointment<\/strong><\/a>) and re-epithelializing ointments, photodynamic therapy, use of epithelial growth factors.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Prevention\"><\/span><b>Prevention<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Ulcers can be prevented by following a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet that is rich in fiber, fruits and vegetables. In addition, drinking plenty of water, exercising regularly and avoiding smoking and drinking alcohol can also help. Finally, ensure the skin is properly hydrated by using the self-moisturizing <a href=\"https:\/\/mostskincare.com\/negozio\/linea-prodotti-dermatologica\/unguento-emolliente-estremo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Extreme Emollient Ointment<\/strong><\/a>.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Skin ulcers are a disintegration of skin tissue and appear as open sores.
